CHALLENGE

to expand and deepen the creative concept developed by TORKE CC for UN Women, aiding in the battle against domestic violence. despite progress, there is still a long way to go in mitigating gender discrimination and ending violence against women in East Timor.

INSIGHT

drawing inspiration from East Timor’s voting method, where the index finger is painted purple to indicate voting and create social pressure for citizenship, we used the orange-painted index finger to symbolize the movement for gender equality.

SOLUTION

jon the 16 Days of Activism movement, featuring a range of activities designed to draw attention to the issue and emphasize the need for change. this initiative included the release of a locally produced video showcasing testimonials from survivors of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and other advocates for change. additionally, billboards and mupis were distributed across the streets of Dili, a microlete roadshow invited everyone to join the cause, and the movement culminated in a march through the city’s streets.

TORKE CC handled the conceptualization, strategy, and client service, while wee! collaborated on the development and implementation of the creative concept. this encompassed the creation of all Out-of-Home (OOH) materials, media kits, a website, production of the TV commercial, materials for digital activism, and the Ataúro dolls. these dolls are intended for distribution in schools to educate children about gender equality from an early age.
